Screen Shot 2013-04-18 at 11.15.03 AMThis is the Story board for our Toymation. This is going to be too funny! Batman is going to kick major butt! BECAUSE HE’S BATMAN!

So we have a bear, batman, a toy truck and a toy Jesus. The bear is going to be the villain, Batman will be the hero and the toy Jesus will be spokesperson. First there will just be the truck on scene, the truck is only a prop. The bear will attempt to steal the toy truck. He will have trouble breaking into the truck. Batman will catch him in the act. Batman will swing down and stop him. The bear will attempt to hurt batman in an attack. Batman will win, I mean he is Batman, come on. Batman will fly him to jail. Jesus will then appear on the scene and will tell us about why stealing is bad.

Coraline Videos

Little Miracles:

This video shows how the animator goes about making the puppet move. He has a unique set of tools. He has a drill, Tweezers, and an Exacto knife. Those are the only tools that he works with. He speaks about how every scene looks like magic and that a “little miracle” happens.

Behind the Scenes:

This was a big stop-motion video about what goes on behind the scenes. It shows you the fun and excitement that goes on  when they’re making this movie. The environment looks so chill and laid back. I would love to work on one of those sets.

We Had to Make the Web:

This was a lot of rigging and interesting ideas. They used an elastic wire to create the web that Coraline gets caught in. the rigging department works with every other department in the studio. they are where the creative minds are.

It Comes Down to Rigging:

These people build devices that create solutions for the animation. They built the secret portal to Coraline’s parallel world. It seems like the funnest department in the studio. These guys interact with all other departments.

Focus Feature:

This group works with rigging also. they worked on the shower scene. the water was made from plastic strands. They were shot individually and the merged together in the end.

Exquisite Energy:

This was about the rehearsals. They show the poses, voices and facial expressions. Every shot was live. It looks complicated and very difficult .

Visual Effects Reel:

I knew that some digital editing was used for  making Coraline, but i didn’t know it was that much.Without the editing, the movie would have looked amateur. After the editing, characters move freely, and the skin is connected.

Making Faces:

Remembering the fact that the movie is a stop motion, all the faces made must have been the most difficult part! For every syllable of every works, and for every emotion, theres a different facial expression.  This also means that thousands of little plastic faces must be accounted for and organized so they can be used!
